Caged Music
You don’t realize
We are meant to sing
The caged bird doesn’t need your why
Only that that song can never be taken
Unless surrendered
This song is my soul
Do not ask who I would be if I could not sing
I will sing
I am
Cage me free me can you see me?
It’s all the same the same to me
You can’t cage me have no power to free me
I am the only thing I could be can’t you see?
I’m bittersweet symphony in my own key
A futile fugue of triumphant horns
Lay my dirge over a piccolo key
Sit back now childe and look and see
This my life in bittersweet symphony
It will pick you put you down set you free
This crazy symphony locked inside of me
Put your head down against my naked chest
Listen deep for the beat that gives no rest
How can this symphony be so much to me?
How can this symphony freely enslave me?
Touch my arm take my hand and walk me out of this land
We’ll go behind the sun above the moon day is done
Oh won’t you listen to the things that I sing?
In my bittersweet symphony
In a kaleidoscope factory
Where broken glass dreams
Are broke and jumbled
And black and white scenes
Are brought to life
It’s a bittersweet symphony
It’s an angel’s breath in the third degree
Chasing lost causes they say sets you free
To write your own symphony
And the world turns around shuts me down
There are things this life is not meant to see
40 years hard labor then we’ll set you free
Throughout this whole time you’ll hear only one sound from me
And it’s a bittersweet symphony
Sung of the things that no one can see
Hymns that praise things which cannot be
But shall never be surrendered by me
We are meant to sing
The caged bird doesn’t need your why
Only that that song can never be taken
Unless surrendered
This song is my soul
Do not ask who I would be if I could not sing
I will sing
